Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

A two week trip to the Balkans, flew via Frankfurt and München to Sofia, where I stayed the night. I then went to Plovdiv and to and on to Karlovo. Back to Plovdiv next day for the very smoky 07.009 and the long run to Burgas and then back on overnight to Sofia. Back to Levski and then to Pleven to do the line to Cherkvica, not very entertaining with a 55 on front. Then overnight to Thessaloniki for a few nights. Trains to Idomeni were being diverted via Axios (run round) and the very rarely used freight line to Gefira and we were delighted with "real" MLW power n the front in the form of A-460. Next day we had A-460 in from Axios again and after some photos with the locals in a car it was turn of A-504 to Idomeni and back! A-460 out again next morning! I tried to "influence" 07035 to Idomeni on the morning passenger, but it went up on a freight, so intercepted it at Axios on way back, great to have Kolomna power into Thessaloniki on a regular train. Went back to Sofia on the night train and did the incredibly slow branch from Kjustendil - Gjueshevo with a very boring 55. Next morning to Plovdiv and picked up new 07.017 to Dimitrovgrad and back and then to Karlovo for night. Back to Sofia and covered 07.068 under wires from Pernik - Radomir and then overnight north to Kardam. 07.076 out and back to Varna and then night train to Plovdiv arriving via the north circular line via Filipovo. After a quick run with 07.018 met up with others for the journey to Septemvri and the narrow gauge to Dobrinishte for one night stay and back north next to return to Karlovo. It was back to Plovdiv again for more 07 action and a trip to Dimitrovgrad and then to Sofia for a hotel and early flight home via München and Düsseldorf
