Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

A nineteen day trip to Turkey and Greece started with a flight to Istanbul via Genève and over to Haydarpasa and a night train to Ankara. After a trip to Irmak I got latest timetable info fro offices and then we went to Sincan for the train to Kars, a 1500 km journey arriving late next evening, thankfully only half hour late. Came back out from Kars early next morning and the long run to Çetinkaya where we thankfully made the connection onto the train to Elaziğ and a long wait for the train for the long run to Adana for a hotel. Next day we did branches to İskenderun and Mersin. We went north on "Toros Ekspresi" to Enveriye and a short taxi move to Eskişehir we managed a Kayas DE22 move before going to hotel. Left town early with a DE22 to Irmak and then another for the long run north to Zonguldak. On arrival we found a GE on the local back to Karabük so ended up staying there for the night. Went north next morning on the GE and the back to Ankara again and an overnight into Haydarpasa. I crossed over to Europe and joined the day train to Pythio and went to Alexandroupoulis to wait for the overnight to Thessaloniki. Found A-463 dragging a Larissa bound DMU on arrival at Thessaloniki and joined up with others for a tour with A-302 down the main line to Larissa and then to Volos for the night. Next day we left Volos and continued via Larissa, Paleofarcelos, Karditsa and Paleofarcelos to Lianokladi. From there to Lamia it was top'n'tail "Cats" where we stayed the night. Last day of tour and to Stylis and then back to Lianokladi for A-326 for the remainder of the southbound journey to Athens. The next few days were spent on the Pelly as Greek Easter had arrived and quite a few pairs of ACLOs were around so lots a orange power. Spent two nights at Kiparissia and then three nights in Athens before returning home
