Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

I made a one week trip to Hungary which included three days of the PTG class 56 tour. We flew with Wizzair from Luton to Budapest and based ourselves in the Gold Park Hotel for the entire week. On the first day two of us went to Szombathely to sample the 232 power from Csorna and then straight into the new 232 diagram to Pećs which was a real bonus as it had only been running a few days. It felt very strange passing through Croatian border stations with Ludmilla power on ex DR stock. Once at Pećs we returned directly to Budapest for an early finish to the day. Next day I returned again to Szombathely and also a trip to Szentgotthárd and back. There was no 56 available on first day of tour so we had M61.019 to Tamási via Pusztaszabolcs, Sárbogárd, Rétszilas and Keszőhidegkút. We returned via Dombóvár, Kaposvár, Szabadbattyán, Börgönd and Pusztaszabolcs back to Budapest. Next two days were 659.001 (56101) firstly to Kőszeg via Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, Boba curve, Zalaszentiván and Szombathely. Our return was via Csorna and the GySEV station and yards at Győr. In the evening there was a visit to the Floyd depot. The second day Budapest was Nagyút to the power station at Visonta and then via Szolnok freight yards to Kecskemét and freight only branch to the Mercedes car factory and back to Budapest via Cegléd. The final day a few of us went to Szombathely again and then to Veszprém and the very scenic line to Győr and back to Budapest. Next day flights back home
