Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

I started a two week trip around Europe with a flight from Southend - Groningen with FlyBe propeller power. My first night was in Groningen. Next morning the plan was take DMU to Leer, however a ship had run into the bridge on the Ens canal between Nieuweschans - Weener, and estimates of five years to fix! Once I was in Leer (after a long wait for a bus replacement to show up) I chased some 146s and then took a 120 south and stayed in Essen. Next day was intended to be V200-033 on the tour to Marburg, but due to defect it was 215.001 instead, with 01.150 from Hagen on the outward run. On the return I got off at Bochum and stayed there. On the Sunday I headed to Hamburg and an excellent fast run on the IRE to Berlin, diverted straight down the main line. I then took an EC to Poznań for three nights in the Novotel. Next day was a trip to Wrocław and back, followed by a day around Bydgoszcz. I then went south to Katowice, the train being booked via Kępno (low level), Krzepice, Herby Nowe & Tarnowskie Góry and to Katowice and then to Zabrze. Made my way to Olomouc next for two nights there with some travels in the area. On via Wien to Győr for one night and then via Citadella with premier 664 power and via Ljubljana to Pivka for one night. Next morning back to Ljubljana and then to Villa Opicina and one night in Trieste. Long run south to Roma next day and stayed there one night. It was then north to Genova and the Thello to Marseille and flight back home next day
