Welcome to "Phil's Loco Photos"

A regular pre Christmas trip started off with a flight from Manchester - Eindhoven and then one night in Rotterdam. After a full day of chasing 186s on ICD services I took the second last run of the CNL from Amsterdam - München. The plan of getting off at Ulm for 103.245 didn't happen as the loco wasn't out and anyway we were late! I went to Rosenheim for "Königsee" to Fulda and then into the east, meeting up with others on the way. After a night at Eisenach we joined the Ludmilla tour to Schwarzenberg and then returned to Zwickau to do 182s vice 1440 broken carts. Once back in Schwarzenberg I joined friends for a round trip with steam to Schlettau and then drove to Rötha where I stayed two nights. After a trip to Leipzig on the Sunday I went via Dresden and Praha to Zabrze when I had a bargain Ibis booked for four nights. Some PKP action each day in the Wrocław and Katowice area before I went south to Budapest, I had intended to enter Hungary via the 749 turn to Komárno but delays in Poland blew that plan up. The Saturday in Hungary was spent taking 651.008 on the new Győr - Szombathely turn, but 008 is quiet and on horrible old air con stock it wasn't sounding anything good at all. I returned via Hegyeshalom on packed Christmas extra EC with broken dining car! I left Budapest and went to Bratislava and then stayed at Komárno to be ready for another go on the 749 the next morning. Thankfully this time I get it, 100 km of normally DMU stock on a decent loco hauled train was good! After a few extra local moves it was off to the airport and flight back home
